WE MOVE NEURONS
One second can change a life.
"In our case, it was an accident.
My 19-year-old son has been paraplegic since a car accident in his early childhood.
For over 18 years, we have been looking for effective therapies. Thus began an exciting journey that has lead me all over the world.
I have gotten to know various forms of therapy and have come to the following insights: It´s time to change the rehabilitation!"
(Thomas Saur / Founder)
In the "active" module, patients' cognitive and motor skills are trained. In various exercises, which can be continuously adjusted in terms of difficulty, patients are prompted to track and guide objects with their gaze and move their head accordingly. This makes the module suitable for severely affected patients who are restricted in their movements.
Neurological early rehabilitation
Even in early rehabilitation, the "active" module stimulates and activates the patients' attention and trains their perception, which can have a positive effect on improving limitations such as neglect. Patients train to notice neglected areas again and to expand their visual field as well as their attention span. A movement guidance system also supports patients in performing the exercises.
The "cogni" module offers cognitive as well as sensory therapy. By performing the exercises within this module, patients train their memory, attention and hand-eye coordination, i.e., by reading and writing.
Cognitive and sensory therapy
This module combines precise movement prompts for the upper extremities with cognitive tasks in the form of a game. For example, patients are asked to recognize and match shapes and colors as well as auditory signals.
"Cogni" provides visual cues as well as voice-guided instruction, so patients receive multisensory feedback immediately after their procedures.
The "moto" module has been expanded to include the "Taiko" therapy game. Patients‘ movements are guided based on a music therapy approaches and are rhythmically synchronized. The rhythmic-acoustic stimulation increases therapy compliance.
Therapy games for higher motivation
In virtual reality, patients sit in front of drums, which can be adjusted in number and distance by the therapist. The tempo of the rhythm can also be adjusted variably. In other words, all settings can be adapted to the individual needs of the respective patient.
The “relax” module, we focus on patient recovery and improvements in mood. Neuroregulation (read definition here) as well as awareness of one's own emotions and body are promoted.
Releaving stress and alleviating pain
In addition to landscapes such as an alpine meadow or an icelandic ice field, the module offers a forest with trees and butterflies or the patient can visit the beach and enjoy the ocean scenery. Additionally, patients can perform chromotherapy in a color room. Colors and lighting moods change according to patients‘ movement inducing a realxed state.
The landscapes in the “relax” module are particularly suitable for patients … read more »
In the "finger" module, the fine motor skills of the hands and fingers in particular are promoted. Thanks to CUREO®'s visual hand tracking, no controllers, gloves or the like are needed to translate the movements of the hands and individual fingers into the virtual world. Patients are guided through exercises in which they can practice different grip types and improve their coordination skills.
Hand and finger training
In addition to the tweezer grip with the thumb and individual fingers, patients also train the power grip or the opening and closing of the hand here.
"finger" also offers the option of training the therapy exercises on one or alternating sides. By performing manual activities such as grasping, gripping or holding objects, patients can train mobility and fine motor movements of the fingers and hands. All exercises can be performed with one or both hands as well as unilaterally or bilaterally.
Mirror therapy
As in the other modules of CUREO®, mirror therapy can be used in the "finger" module. Thanks to virtual reality … read more »
In the "daily" module, the focus is on promoting patients' everyday skills, independence and multi-level action planning in order to encourage participation and involvement outside of therapy. In game-based exercises, for example in a therapy kitchen, patients are presented with activities of daily living (ADL).
Attention training
Visual and auditory cues provide guidance for actions and highlight risks. Distracting effects appear and disappear, which increases attention and trains working memory. By fading in and out of distracting effects, attention is focused on the essential tasks and their working memory is trained.
ADL training
In a virtual room patients are encouraged to complete different multi-step tasks, while keeping to the correct chronological order. Patients learn to … read more »
